Who I Am
I am a mother, writer, copyeditor, and a lover of most things outdoors. Through this blog, I hope to bring women together who are interested in getting back to the basics when it comes to taking care of themselves and raising their families. And “fourfold living,” I believe, is an excellent place to start.
I also believe that life should be fun and meaningful and that parenthood should make it even more so. In general, I try not to buy in to the idea that the world is a horrible, scary place for our kids. I think that we have to be aware, but not at the cost of robbing our children and ourselves of the joys of childhood. If we’re nervous wrecks all of the time, what message are we sending to our wee-ones?
By creating a sense of balance in my life, I hope to be better equipped to enjoy this beautiful, fleeting space in time. For my kids, I just want them to feel a sense of wonder in what is, hope for what can be, and empowerment to make good things happen in their worlds.

Amanda- I love the Blog….it is very inspirational and we do need this with all the gloom and doom you get if you just sit and listen to to TV…I agree that we need to protect our children from feeling that the world is a horrible scary place…As I have a 21 year old now, and I’ve tried to always keep the bad things in his life from being so bad…So we sometimes just laughed to keep them from being that bad…A few weeks ago, he said to me “Why is this happening now before I get a chance to have a family and children?” And I held back the tears and said to him as my Dad always said to me …Everything is going to be ok….and then I felt it was….Thanks again…Pam
Hi Amanda,
It’s been so long since we’ve talked but after reading your postings I feel like it’s been no time at all! Your blog is wonderful. I don’t have any little ones just yet, but I know where I’ll be heading online when I do!
Really though, it’s about trying to stay grounded in life no matter what, and even without kids currently, I totally appreciate it.
Take care!
Love,
Jenny
Hey Amanda,
Michelle Courtney gave me a link to your website. How exciting to have a fun, interesting place to connect with other moms in the Valley! OJ and I have 2 girls – 7 months and 2 yrs. old. Give me a call, would love to catch up.
Amanda, Beautiful. If only more of us would subscibe to this sort of life, for the sake of our children. We have too much time on our hands. We think, ponder, wonder and doubt too much. This seems to take up the time of just “being”.
I miss you. Thanks for sharing!
